Nanny questions

  • Children thrive when they are well cared for by a nurturing and attentive childcare provider in the comfort of their own home. The one-on-one care and interaction that a nanny provides gives children a deep sense of self-worth and security. Since nannies typically stay with a family for a minimum of one year, the consistent relationship that children have with their caregiver allows them to develop a meaningful bond with a caring adult that has the child’s best interests at heart.

For parents who need flexible childcare arrangements or wish to direct their child’s daily activities and care structure, nanny care can be the perfect solution. Since the parents are the nanny’s employer, they define the nanny’s role and responsibilities and manage how the nanny spends her time with their children.

And because the children are cared for in their own home, parents don’t have to rush to get everyone out of the house in the morning and off to daycare (which often leads to a chaotic and stressful start to the day for everyone), providing the ultimate in childcare convenience.

Children cared for by nannies are also less likely to become sick because they are not exposed to the many germs that large groups of children bring into a traditional daycare environment. And unlike childcare centers, nannies can provide childcare for mildly ill children, therefore parents do not have to rearrange their work schedules or find last-minute backup care should their child become sick.

For parents with more than one child, nanny care can be cost-effective. Unlike traditional daycare, parents do not have to pay a large additional fee for each child. Nannies are paid one rate to care for all the children in their employer’s family.

  • A nanny’s responsibilities will vary based on each family’s own individual needs, but a nanny’s number one concern is the health, safety and well-being of the children they are caring for. They initiate age-appropriate activities and play dates, prepare nutritious snacks and meals, and perform child-related light housekeeping duties.

  • Although sometimes the process can be expedited, for full-time positions we recommend you allow 2 to 4 weeks to ensure a thorough process. If you need a part-time nanny, we recommend 4 - 6 weeks. This way you will be able to interview several candidates and feel secure and confident in the choice you make for your family. 95% of the families we work with find their perfect nanny within the first 1-3 candidates they interview, but you are welcome to interview as many candidates as you wish.

  • A professional nanny in Colorado and Utah makes around $25-35/hr. This amount varies based on the family’s needs and the nanny’s experience and education level. To make your job as competitive as possible and attract the best candidates, we require families to also offer guaranteed hours, paid time off, and reimburse your nanny for mileage.

We suggest you use a payroll company or speak to your accountant about handling your employer taxes and direct deposit to make things easier for you. We have many resources for you and are happy to refer you to a professional that can answer any questions you may have.

  • Your family’s peace of mind and child’s safety is of the utmost importance to us. Each caregiver must go through our intensive screening process to be eligible for hire. You can view more using this link (link to our screening and vetting process)
